The Third Line will be back in Abu Dhabi in November to exhibit new work by selected represented artists at the second instalment of the artparis-Abudhabi art fair, an annual international event dedicated to modern and contemporary art.
artparis-Abudhabi has established its objective to promote, advance and encourage a dialogue between all cultures through economic and cultural exchange at the annual art fair. After a successful first event in 2007, this year’s fair is expected to bring in 58 modern and contemporary art galleries representing 22 countries and is expected to draw in over 15,000 visitors.
The Third Line will present works from artists Arwa Abouon, Abbas Akhavan, Ebtisam Abdul Aziz, Golnaz Fathi, Hassan Hajjaj, Hayv Kahraman, Huda Lutfi, Laleh Khorramian, Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, Pouran Jinchi, Rana Begum, Susan Hefuna, Tarek Al Ghoussein and Youssef Nabil.
“The artparis-Abudhabi fair was a fantastic opportunity last year when it made its debut on the international art fair scene. Not only is this art fair to be exhibited in the Emirates, but offers a place for Middle Eastern artists to be seen on a world stage. This kind of international event reinforces that this area is continuing to be an international arts and cultural hub, and we are proud to be a part of it again,” said Claudia Cellini, Co-Director of The Third Line.
The Third Line is an art gallery representing contemporary Middle Eastern artists in Dubai, creating paths that ultimately lead to a dialogue between the artists and the public.
In May 2008, The Third Line opened a gallery in Doha, to expand the representation of art in the region.
Along with traditional gallery offerings, The Third Line organises non-profit, alternative programs including Kutub, a bi-lingual Arab literature appreciation circle and a Documentary & Arab Feature Film Series; and, along with 4 other creative groups The Third Line co-organizes Pecha Kucha Dubai, an international multimedia forum for creatives and designers.
Represented artists include: Abbas Akhavan, Ala Ebtekar, Amir H Fallah, Arwa Abouon, Ebtisam Abdul Aziz, Farhad Moshiri, Fouad Elkoury, Golnaz Fathi, Hassan Hajjaj, Hayv Kahraman, Huda Lutfi, Lamya Gargash, Laleh Khorramian, Mona Marzouk, Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian, Neda Hadizadeh, Pouran Jinchi, Rana Begum, Shezad Dawood, Shirin Aliabadi, Susan Hefuna, Tarek Al Ghoussein and Youssef Nabil.
