According to news reports the capital of Northern Bahr El-Ghazal State, Aweil town, witnessed yesterday the first meeting between Messeriya and Dinka after the conflicts between the two tribes which lasted for the past (20) years.
Far away from official formalities, a coexistence committee comprising of prominent figures in the two tribes started a year ago its negotiations and internal meetings paving the way towards social coexistence, which leads to a popular accord that overcomes the past agonies.
The objective of the meeting is to agree on new basis emerging from the spirits of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
The 2-day conference is but a fruit of political and popular efforts led by Governors of each of Bahr el-Ghazal and South Kurdofan States through the committee formed under the chairmanship of the prominent politician Aldo Ajo Deng.
The issues to be discussed by the conference include the peaceful coexistence, opening the paths, organizing the pastures, disarmament, and expanding the powers of the native administration.
Hundred persons from each tribe are supposed to have attended the conference to be addressed by First Vice President Salva Kiir Mayardit after which he will receive the recommendations of the conferees in the presence of senior GoNU officials.
It is obvious that the said conference could be the foundation corner towards the continuation of a united Sudan.
Such good news makes everybody happy because it proves that Sudanese can make it and reach peaceful solutions if they sit together without any interventions from those who were trying to divide the people and create hostilities even between those who lived in harmony for decades since the eras of Sultan Babu Nimir of the Messeriya and Deng Majok of Dinka Ngok.
