According to news reports JEM leaders declared their rejection to participate in Doha conference for Darfur peace after their meeting with the Qatari mediation envoy, calling for direct talks with the government with the isolation of all other Darfuri armed movements.

It was to the surprise of all local, regional, and international bodies that whenever there appeared a light in the end of the tunnel the Darfur rebel movements start making obstacles to stop any reasonable solutions to the problem under the scene of the whole world.

Came to the mediation of Qatar it is well-known that the mission of the mediator is just easing, facilitating and preparing the ground for the negotiating parties not more.

Therefore, it is unjustifiable to consider the mediator as siding one party against the other. If we consider such talk Sudan should have accused USA as taking side with the SPLM during the Naivasha or Abuja talks because USA and West in general dislike Sudan. But despite that and for the sake of ending the suffering of Sudan's people the government entered into talks under the mediation of that big power.

JEM should well know that the signatory and non-signatory rebel movements in Darfur should know that the only option to realize peace in the region is the political solution through negotiations.

But to the surprise of all local, regional and international bodies is the rejection of JEM of the initiative adopted by Arab Foreign Ministers meeting with Qatar hosting the peace talks.

The initiative got the support of the Arab League, the African Union which represent the biggest African regional organizations. Added to that France which entered strongly this time in support of the Qatari efforts to host the peace talks between the Sudanese government and the Darfur rebels.
It is reasonable for the government to hold separate talks with one of more than 20 factions to reach a compromise which can convince all the 20 something factions?

Isn't it clear evidence that JEM insists on lengthening the suffering of the Darfuri people?

If JEM wants to impose itself as an opponent movement, and that is its right according to the constitution, it should come to Khartoum just like the many other opponent parties practicing their opposition and publishing their dailies.
It is obvious that JEM has lost reasonability; and such movements should be ignored by; the government as it will have no place in Sudan's event map in the future.

We call on rebel movements' leaders to resort to reason and come out with a unified vision to resolve the crisis for the sake of the suffering Darfurians.
